Halfway Down The Stairs is a micro nation I designed after feeling lost within my own cultural identity and looking at the political climate of the world today. This design explores a childhood memory where I felt the safest and happiest - sitting with my dad on our favourite step singing "Halfway Down The Stairs." I now feel like I will always belong on my favourite step. My idea took many forms, in order to communicate the various ways in which we feel happiness and comfort. As the project progressed, the stairs became a metaphor for our journey through life, and I produced a manifesto based around this idea. My micro nation is for those that just want to belong. Through the use of a coin to symbolise home, anyone and everyone can be connected.
In no way am I claiming rights to the original song, I am using it as part of a personal project, and acknowledge that all rights go to The Muppets.
